Brighten Dark Photos! FAQs
  •   What method of payments do you accept?
Through PayPal you can use credit cards or debit, and if you're in the Ottawa area, we also accept cash or personal cheques.

  •   How do I submit an order?
To submit an order, to ask for a free estimate, or to request a one-on-one consultation (if you are in the Ottawa area), contact us at our customer service email account: info@HeBlinked.com.

See our Submit Order page for more details.

  •   I want to send you a digital copy of my picture, are there any guidelines for image size or resolution?
As a default you should try to use a MINIMUM resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) when scanning in your pictures. If you're planning to blow up the picture when you print it, you should consider a higher resolution. The higher the resolution you use, the better but the trade off is that the file size will be larger. As an example: If you are starting with an old 3x3 picture and you want to blow it up to 8x10 then please use at least 600 or 700 dpi when scanning it in.

  •   I want to have you scan in my printed photo... will I get my original picture back?
Yes. The photos are DIGITALLY edited. Your original pictures will not be altered in any way and will be returned to you when your order is completed.

  •   How long will my order take to complete?
Depending on the waiting list involved your order could take anywhere from a few days to two weeks to complete. Once your order is received, our staff will contact you to confirm the details of your order and to provide you with an estimate of when your order will be completed.

  •   How will I receive my order back from you?
If you choose to receive your order as a digital JPG file, your order will be emailed to you. If you order prints, they will be mailed to you.

  •   Are there any copyright restrictions associated with the edited photos?
No. He Blinked will not impose any copyright restrictions on the finished pictures. They were your pictures to start with and they'll still be your pictures when we're done with them.

  •   Do I need a 'professional consultation'?
A 'professional consulation' is an optional service provided by He Blinked. It's purpose is to help you figure out exactly what you want to do with your pictures. You may just have a box of old pictures that you want to do SOMETHING with but you're unsure what is possible. We can help you determine whether you have any diamonds in the rough waiting to be discovered.

  •   Will you edit professionally photographed pictures?
The only way that we will edit professionally photographed pictures is if you can provide written proof of copyright release from the photographer/studio.

  •   My son blinked in a picture - can you fix it?
J We can't 'draw' someone's eyes open. Eyes are simply too unique a feature for our photo-artists to be able to accurately guess what someones eyes should look like when they're open. The alternative is for you to give us another photo where the same person is in a similar pose, then we can take the head from the shot where the eyes are open and place it in the shot where the eyes were closed. Where possible the two pictures should be from the same settings and/or lighting but this is not an absolute requirement.

  •   I have an old black and white picture - can you recolor it?
Yes, it IS possible to colorize a black & white, or sephia photo so that it has the appearance of a color photo. It is a time consuming process if it's done well as the end-result should have realistic variations of shading and depth of color. A more economical alternative which often creates an even more dramatic effect is to selectively color only portions of the photo such as a little girl's dress.

  •   Can any picture be edited, does it have to be digital?
We can edit any picture because we will simply scan in any pictures that we receive in printed-format. When the order is complete you can choose to receive the finished version of your picture in digital JPG format or as prints.

  •   Can you add an old picture to a new one or vice versa?
Yes. However, depending on the sharpness and colors of the pictures involved, some multi-picture combinations may look better as Black & White or Sephia compilations, but many times a full color picture is possible as well.

  •   Do you cut the original picture?
No. Only digital COPIES of your pictures are altered. The original files and prints are returned to you unaltered when the order is completed.

  •   What if I'm not happy with the result?
Our results are 100% guaranteed. You will be sent proofs of your edited picture(s) BEFORE you pay for your order. You will then have the opportunity to request any adjustments that you see fit. You only pay when you are satisfied with the results.

  •   Can I get duplicates of one picture at a discounted price?
It is free to receive your order as a JPG file that you may print yourself at a local photo lab or on your computer. If you wish to order prints of your picture(s) from He Blinked, you may do so at a cost of $5.99 per 8.5x11" sheet. You can have any combination and format of print on these sheets (one 8x10; or two 5x7s; or two 4x6s and one 5x7; etc).

  •   GENERAL TIPS from HE BLINKED:
If you are photographing something or someone and you want the option of using our services then a few simple things will greatly increase the options of what we can do for you. Take a LOT of pictures. If you are trying to get a picture of multiple subjects (especially kids) then try to get at least one good shot of everyone. Ideally these shots will all be in a similar setting with similar lighting although this is not absolutely required.
